Six students from CBT's Hebrew High School traveled to Washington DC in early December to participate in the Religious Action Center's L'Taken Social Justice Weekend Seminar.
Together with Rabbi Eiduson, these students represented Congregation B'nai Torah for the very first time at this exciting and well-known 4-day program during which students learned about the US political system and were given an introduction to the process of lobbying members of Congress for those issues that are important to Jewish communities around the country.
Our students worked with one another and the legislative interns at the Religious Action Center to explore some of the most important social issues and challenges confronting Americans and American Jews today...and how to take action to effect positive changes in our society.
Our students cherished the opportunity to share their experience with nearly 300 other Reform Jewish high school students from around the US and Canada. They visited important sites in Washington DC, became better informed about current social and political issues, and prepared briefs on specific topics of concern to present to staff members of our Massachusetts Senators and Representatives in Congress.
